New Sportster and a Biltwell Banana Seat
I never wanted a Harley Davidson but I always wanted a Sportster. I finally found one, in Flagstaff, Az, and drove across Monument Valley one afternoon to pick it up.
It’s a 1999 XLH1200S – meaning it’s the “S” model, with decent brakes and a little more horsepower. It did come with the classic duffer seat – and that wasn’t in the best condition.
I decided to order a replacement seat for the bike, but I wanted something affordable, somewhat comfortable, and easy to install. I found all those things in the Biltwell Banana Seat.
Looks a little better, right?
The seat shipped quick – I ordered it Monday night and it was here on Thursday afternoon. It was packaged well, and surprisingly lightweight.
It’s well-made with no visible flaws. It installed quickly – I had to drill one hole in the fender.
It’s comfortable and suits my purposes. I don’t know how it would hold up to a long day of riding, but give me a couple months and perhaps I’ll find out.
The ubiquitous half-helmet that came with the bike. I figured out why Harley guys wear these – it’s so you can hear and identify which crappy chrome accessory is going to rattle off your bike next… Of course it’s only good for the first few weeks. After that you’re too deaf to hear anything.
Thanks for looking. _____________________________________________________________________
